π£ BLDG Memphis Appoints Andrea Hill New Executive Director β Hill assumes the role in early August 2026.
Memphis, TN β July 29, 2026
BLDG Memphis Board of Directors is excited to announceΒ Andrea C. HillΒ as its new Executive Director. Hill, who will assume the role in early August, is charged with increasing overall capacity and efficiencies for the member organization, advancing community development sector policy, and translating mission-driven strategies into visible, tangible outcomes.
A Memphis native, Andrea Hill comes to the role with more than 20 years of experience as a nonprofit leader. She most recently served as Chief External Affairs Officer at Tennessee Nonprofit Network, where she directed statewide operational strategies and spearheaded high-impact policy initiatives β including Nonprofit Day on the Hill and the Advocacy Summit, connecting local Memphis leaders directly with state legislators in Nashville.
"Serving the Memphis community has been the privilege of my career, and stepping into this role with BLDG Memphis feels like a natural and exciting continuation of that work. I've spent more than two decades helping nonprofits and community organizations build stronger partnerships, navigate complex policy issues, develop leaders from multiple generations, and move strategy from concept to action. My focus has always been on bringing people together to drive meaningful, community-level change. I am energized by the Board's strategic vision for this next chapter and thrilled to partner with our incredible members and community leaders to build a stronger, more thriving city."
β Andrea C. Hill, Executive Director, BLDG Memphis
"We were immediately drawn to Andrea's leadership and the depth of experience she brings to the position. Her skills and expertise were evident but what stood out most was her warm, collaborative approach and her understanding of what it takes to strengthen and sustain nonprofit institutions."
β Rasheedah Jones, President, BLDG Memphis Board of Directors
“As a 27-year-old organization with a longstanding commitment to supporting neighborhoods and advancing community development across Memphis, BLDG Memphis needed a leader who could honor the institution we’ve built while also positioning it to respond to the complexity, nuance, and changing climate of today’s community development landscape. We believe Andrea has the experience, relationships, and leadership capacity to guide us into this next chapter.”
Hill’s appointment marks the end of a six-month transition period for BLDG Memphis, during which the Board worked collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to renew the organization’s value proposition and reset its strategic direction. Over that time, BLDG Memphis overhauled its signature New City Builders program in partnership with the City of Memphis, redefined its membership tiers and benefits, moved into a new permanent office space, and relaunched its website β all part of a broader effort to strengthen the organization’s foundation ahead of welcoming its new permanent Executive Director.
"Andrea's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for community development in Memphis. As we work to align capital, policy, and community capacity across this ecosystem, having a leader of her caliber at BLDG Memphis strengthens the entire network. I'm looking forward to partnering with her as we build what's next for our neighborhoods."
